DAVID RYAN HARRIS - I CAN’T WAIT TO MEET YOU

You may know David Ryan Harris from his fruitful solo career or for appearing as a sideman for big artists like John Mayer.

I still have his two oldest records and his latest album on my list. I will try to get up to date soon, but at this moment his album “Lightyears” is probably the one I’ve dug deepest into from his solo discography. I also strongly recommend his work “The Bittersweet”. Actually, in my solo shows I used to cover his song “Turn Around” from that album, which is probably the most compassionate breakup song (cheating suspicion included) in my library.

Apparently he wrote “I Can’t Wait To Meet You” when he learned they were expecting after he and his wife struggled to conceive for a long time. With such a warm-hearted voice I’m sure he had no trouble rocking his little one to sleep.

This song felt very appropriate lately as in a few days my second child will be born, and, similarly, this journey has also had plenty of bumps on the road. We were about to throw in the towel when unexpectedly a window of hope opened and life started to make its way, slowly pushing our fears and burdens away on its path.

His name will be Pau, which is the Catalan word for peace, and we can’t wait to meet him. Just like the world, especially nowadays, can’t wait to meet peaceful times.
